United Methodist Women

mISSION: United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Goldendale United Methodist Women meet on the second Monday of each month, except for July and August.  The following are a few of the programs that Goldendale UMW supports and/or actively participate. 
* Big River Youth Council - local Native American youth organization
* Kid's Closet - clothing for local youth up to sizes 5T-6
* Goldendale Community Mealsite - preparing and serving meals


 
The PURPOSE of United Methodist Women
The Purpose is adopted by the General Conference of The United Methodist Church as the official mission statement of United Methodist Women. United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Out of the Purpose are four mission foci that relate to the mission initiatives and priorities of United Methodist Women.

United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice. Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. United Methodist Women and The United Methodist Church's principles and values include: Promoting the empowerment of women, children and youth. Promoting anti-racism and multiculturalism. Promoting inclusion and equity. Promoting fair labor practices. Promoting economic and environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Membership
The membership of United Methodist Women is voluntary and open to all women who are committed and engaged in mission and who affirm the PURPOSE. You don’t have to be a member of The United Methodist Church to be a member of United Methodist Women.  If you'd like to join Goldendale United Methodist Women, contact us.
